Waking early, strategic planning around the sites you want to visit will ensure a satisfying experience. Can you imagine how the French explorers felt when they started hacking away at the vines and trees that literally was swallowing this place up? It’s the biggest spiritual/religious complex on the planet. Kathmandu, Nepal-Another glimpse of Sadhus from one of the most significant Hindu temple complexes of South Asia, Pashupatinath. It’s here on the Bagmati River where the remains of the deceased are burned 24 hours a day. One of the most shocking, eye-opening experiences of my life was my first visit to Pashupatinath. Many Sadhus who’s life mission is to find moksha, or enlightenment live around this complex. Kathmandu, Nepal-In a few weeks I’ll be back in Kathmandu which will be my 8th visit in as many years. No Starbucks, McDonalds, Uniqlo, or H&M. Relatively undeveloped, fiercely independent, it’s one of the few authentic travel experiences left in Asia. Never knew how much this place would have an impact on the direction of my life, starting out with a 4 day sightseeing visit after almost 3 weeks in Tibet 8 years ago. No problem getting these Sadhus or holy men to pose for you as long as you’ve got some baksheesh in your pocket.
