Mae Salong, Thailand-Akha Man and baby I met trekking in the hills. This is a pretty interesting town made up of old Republic of China nationalists turned drug runners, turned tea growers and several Hill tribe villages. Many still speak Mandarin in the village and there’s more tea houses per capita possibly than any other place in Thailand. Mae Salong is approximately 2 hours drive from Chiang Rai. I do like Chiang Mai but I really enjoy the vibe around Chiang Rai.
