Siem Reap-Angkor Wat Travel Advice Video Series – Far East Adventure Travel

This series of talks will discuss the town of Siem Reap, Cambodia and it’s close by world-famous Angkor Wat ruins.

In this video I give a brief overview on what to expect in the way of accommodations and entertainment.

Siem Reap is a traveler’s town. It has a world-class selection of accommodations. Everything from dorm room hostels right up to the very best in 5 star hotels and everything in between. A town or city that can cater to any budget deserves world-class status and Siem Reap delivers.

When it comes to night life there are two different sides to Siem Reap. The crowded Western influenced Pub Street and surrounding neighborhood, with countless nightclubs, bars, massage parlours and restaurants.

Then there’s the quieter side on the perimeter of the town and opposite side of the river with quieter streets, laid back restaurants and bars. The two faces of Siem Reap’s nightlife will satisfy most everyone’s taste. Whether it be in a traditional Cambodian style house enjoying the perfect Khmer meal or catching a band or DJ in one of the clubs in the center of town.

I think it’s important to know what to expect of an evening out in Siem Reap, as the two sides are so completely different and if not chosen wisely could potentially frustrate and disappoint the traveler. If a Western style club zone is not to your liking then avoid Pub Street. Bored by a quieter scene, avoid the perimeter of the town and the riverside opposite the old market.

Of course you have the option of mixing them both or just grabbing some take-out, cold beers and settling into your room after a long day of exploring the ruins.

More to come on Siem Reap as well as Cambodia’s number one tourist attraction Angkor Wat and it’s surrounding ruins.
